Live coverage (kind of) of Nintendo's pre-TGS conferance tonight!!!! 11:00 PM EST

We might be seeing a duel analog form of the 3DS tonight

Tokyo Game Show is right around the corner and with it will come Nintendo’s vision of where their portable device, the Nintendo 3DS, is going. Nintendo is holding a conference September 12^th at 11:00 PM EST (8:00 PM PST). The Nintendo 3DS didn’t have the best launch but with some serious marketing, some serious name/game drops (Kid Icarus, Zelda, Star Fox, Mario and more), and a serious price cut the system has slowly made a recovery in the market. We are at the point now with Sony’s new handheld coming out in the near future that Nintendo will have to lay the rest of its cards on the table and that is what we fully expect from the conference tonight. We don’t expect to hear much at all about the WiiU, the new console/controller? announced by Nintendo at E3. It’s just too early to start hyping it up at all. We will be closely watching the conference and writing on the announcements from Nintendo as they come in so check back in later to see what Nintendo has up its sleeve.

For those interested in what TGS has to offer this year, you can expect some major news from Sony, Capcom, Square Enix, Microsoft, Konami, EA, and more. These are just some of the games we are expecting to hear big news from: Mass Effect 3, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, the next installment in the Assassin’s Creed series, Uncharted 3, the newest Halo game, Batman: Arkham City, Final Fantasy XIII-2, Devil May Cry, Street Fighter X Tekken, and hopefully a ton more. It’s going to be a big happy game filled year.

Just a few things to close out the week today:

TGS Flyer (I don't know what the japanese says)

First, Bioware has told us that we can’t publish an article on the closed beta of Star Wars: The Old Republic just yet stating that the closed beta is exclusively for testing purposes. So, sorry fellas you will just have to wait on this one, in the meantime we will keep on testing for them.

Tokyo Game Show is quickly approaching. Never heard of it? Well it is sort of like E3 (or some of the cons) where all the major publishers get together and show off what they have. To put it in perspective, E3 gets about 50,000 attendees. Tokyo Game Show got over 200,000 attendees last year. TGS opens to the press September 15^th and to the public September 17^th lasting through the 19^th. When TGS starts we will try and bring you the latest news from Japan as we get it. We might even work the weekend on this one. I’m praying for PS Vita news, Uncharted 3, and the latest installment in the Resident Evil series. 

MariO!!!!

One last thing that has us super excited, we love Mario. We love Portal. We love the developer that is remaking the 8-bit Super Mario Bros game with Portal mechanics. Yes, you just heard it; Mario and Portal will finally be in the same game, the classic you grew up with but with a new twist. It will be called MariO. It gets better; rumor is that the game will be free. Fingers crossed.
