Battlefield 3 leaked gameplay footage!

Battlefield 3
This trend of leaked gameplay footage is scary for developers but we thoroughly enjoy getting a glimpse of the newest games before their release. Recently it came to our attention that some Battlefield 3 leaked gameplay footage was floating around the net. So we hunted it down and watched it, 3 videos in total; 1 showing off the Fault Line level (which could be previously seen from convention events), 1 showing off a new mission in the sky controlling a jet, and 1 showcasing the new destruction engine.

The player controlling the character in the Fault Line level seemed to be playing on an Xbox 360 and rather poorly I might add so for now I will leave you with the official release of the Fault Line level (in higher quality and more properly played).

The footage of the jet gameplay is something else, I’m actually not entirely sure how I feel about it, it almost feels linear even though the controller is flying around an open sky but the AI seem to just throw themselves in front of the player. It certainly won’t be BF1942 style flying but hopefully the game offers more than what is showcased here because it leaves a lot to be desired.  Here is the footage for the jet.

Try as I might I couldn’t find an original link to the third and final video, Gameinformer does have one up on their website for now if you wish to view it. It is 50 seconds of a player shooting rockets into a building, at first I thought “ohh look, original red faction style destruction” but it looked a little different. The first problem was that 2 of his rockets wouldn’t damage the building, 1 did way more than it looked like should have been possible and even after the building basically no longer had a first floor or half of a second floor it was still standing. I’m not sure what they are aiming at or what they hope to gain from the current destruction engine but if it is just there to look pretty I think it will end up disappointing, hopefully Battlefield 3 uses that destruction in the gameplay offering moldable environments that can change the story, multiplayer battles, and tactics on the battlefield.

When my internet starts working properly again (or Gameinformer’s website) I will post a link to the third video, as of now it is as Blizzard would put it NOT “working as intended”

As promised, the final battlefield 3 demo (found at the bottom of this page on gameinformer's website)
